My brother just got his car tuned at JG engine dynamics in alhambra. He has a 99 si with Aem cai, Dc 4-1 1piece header, 5 Zigen fireball, Ported gsr throttle body, Skunk 2 intake manifold, skunk 2 stage 1 cams and skunk 2 cam gears. After the guy "tuned the cams" , he came back with the results, 138 whp and 102 ftlbs of torque. I dont think thats right, I mean even he said that a stock b16a2 should be around 139 whp. So he thought it was the ecu. He replaced my brothers obd2 with a obd1, and the hp then jumped to 144 whp and 111 ftlbs of torque. Can anyone give some help, Did he not tune the cams right??? or is it just my brothers motor?? Does he need more fuel or a different brain?? btw the obd1 brain he ran on my brothers car was a p28 chipped to a type r program. any responses would help.

that doesn't look good. I've seen stock Si's hit 146hp. Take to another shop like Area 51.

 

did he just adjust the cam gears? He should be making way more power with those mods.

 

All the guy did was adjust the cam gears, and actually, the car baselined at 139whp and 98lbft of torque, after he tuned the cam gears, he had 138whp and 102 lbft of torque. Something is wrong here, either he does not know how to tune, or my brother got a lemon, And we hope its the first one. Do import builders do dyno tuning, where is area 51 and what is there number? Any more help would be great.

I forgot to add, before he got them tuned, the car idled fine. After they were tuned, the idle became rough, and the car just dies when at a light if you dont repeatedly step on the gas. We just dont know what to do???

My brother doesn't want to go turbo, and we werent expecting 200whp, just thought that those numbers were low for his mods.

Area51typer..........How much do you guys charge to dyno tune??Oh yeah on the dyno sheet all it said that he did was avance intake cam 2 degrees, thats all it said, do you think he even touched the exhaust cam??
