d15y7, what can I do to make it fast?
I've decided that I want to modify my stock motor in my 95 Civic instead of doing a swap. I've done my share of research and found out that I can swap out the stock head with a V-tec head... After I do this, is there anything else I can do to the motor to give me a noticable increase in speed, besides turbo/nitrous? (Only 17 working at Cracker Barrel, can't afford turbo for a while
)
)
Since you are 17 and have a fresh platform to work on may i make a suggestion? If you can hold off on doing the mini me and be satisfied with a stock car, you could save up some money since you are still young and dont have rent, and buy a d16z6 and boost it for way less than you could swap a motor in for. The d16 would run about 500 if you look in the right places and you could piece a turbo set together for about a little over 1k.
you can get a reliable turbo setup for 1000-1200
Do Susp/wheels, with a good setup it will make your car much more fun to drive.
Then, save up.
You could certainly do a mini-me, but for the price of a mini-me you'll be halfway to a turbo.

you mean d15b7?
not much you can do without spending alot of money. cheap bolt ons hardly do anything. IMO you should do the sohc vtec head swap and IHE, then save up for boost!

x2 ... Work from the ground up. If you really want boost just do suspension like EK said. If you do the mini me you just blew about 500+ and if you do I/H/E after, you just blew another 500+ depending on what I/H/and muffler you get. You will not be disappointed if you wait. Then again this is only advice, ultimately you will do what you want to do.

Sorry but let me make a suggestion on this. If you are saving money for this. Don't waste your money on Intake or Header. If you want boost then you won't need an intake and the header will be replaced by a manifold. The cat back would be a good investment even if you do a B swap down the road.
I have roughly 800 -1000.00 into my hmt not including bigger injectors or cromepro and labtop but if you do it right you could get around that.
If you are doing the head swap and it is going to cost you more than 300.00 which it might by the time you get head gasket, timing belt, maintenance items and such. Then you might as well swap.
You could find an ls motor for 500.00 to 700.00 swap that and keep saving.
By the time that becomes mediocre to drive than boost it.
This is a tangled web once you get started and its very addictive. Study hard and go to college. Get a good job after that and money won't be so hard to come by.
Sacrifice 5 more years of life now and the rest of your life will be less troublesome.

Thank you HAM... time to make a junkyard run it seems. I hope this question helped the OP out with a place to find a cheap turbo.
