Default More CRX comeback rumors - based off Fit chassis

tech schmeck. just read.

basically theyre considering making a crx out of the fit chassis.

http://news.windingroad.com/bo...honda/

personally, i dont see how the 2 door UK civic wouldnt already fill this, other than the name seeing that its already built off the Fit chassis.

with the Remix concept, hondas yet to be debuted but officially reported compact sports hybrid, and the insight (my unofficial crx successor) being long overdue for a replacement, and other tidbits of news, it will be interesting to see what comes out.

but im still skeptical of anything.

I'm not sure I see it. the fit is so tall and narrow, I'd hate to see honda make the same mistake they did with the 02-03 si hatch. I did hear there was a prototype car in the works and should be out in august sometime.

and is it going to come witha 1.4 motor?

There's such a huge following for the CRX. They'd be silly not to bring it back, the Fit is cool and all but it's just not a sports car at all. One could argue that a CRX is a sports car but the Fit....just doesn't look the part at all.

would def. be a huge come back. they should give it the newer styling changes but keep it looking like the ef's. a k series would be sick too if they kept it light.

My Theory: As gas prices go up, so do the chances of Honda re-introducing the CRX.

I'd definately buy on as long as they aren't gay about it.

It'd have to be light, none of this 3,000 lb crap like most honda cars these days. I would say make it weigh no more than 24-2600 lbs at the heaviest. I think they'd be better off making it from the insight platform...

Then, they'd have to at least put the k20a3 or whatever motor in it (ep si motor). Hopefully they'll avoid the drive by wire junk too...

Well unfortunately to get safety ratings these days you need that extra weight from airbags and the such, and with emissions, it'd be safe to say DBW will be staying around.

the fit is too tall and narrow as one person said.. the insight platform would be kinda cool as long as the body didnt cover the rear wheels.. but the insite is also kinda wierd looking.. narrowing off in the rear. think they should make a whole new chassis for a new crx. would be better if they just reused the old chassis to make mint crx's that looked like the 88-91 models

I have been waiting for years. Just think about how hard it is going to be to buy one. There is going to be alot of people wanting this car.

im praying every day for a new CRX from honda. But why the fit chasis? That kinda pisses me off. Im not too fond of fits. Especially not having independent rear suspension

it needs a lower roof line, wider track, NO CUP HOLDERS, a K motor, a real suspension, screw the safety ratings and it better not come stock with 17 inch wheels like the rest of the small cars are coming out with lately.

and yes i posted on that site this morning... the Fit platform is all wrong for the crx.

The crx died in 1991, what ever they make next and slap a crx label on it still isnt a crx....

Kinda like pet cemetery, it comes back but its not the same dog as before....

I somewhat agree with Boosted Chem.....

I suppose that no one really read the article closely because it says "maximize use of the next Fit platform"

Either way....they best spend some good time engineering and designing it, the original is a hard act to follow

these rumors pop up every couple years and it never happens.

The only thing i hope for is they don't badge any new 2 seater/fwd/economy car a CRX. Let the name rest in piece because you can never achieve what the 88-91 generation was with all the safety requirements these days.

And technically, the CRX HF was resurrected with the Insight.

i agree with boosted chemist as well.. lol pet cemetery is an awesome movie!.....not.

i agree nothing can replace the crx but if honda could pull off a small two door coupe like it that would be awesome but i cant think of any chassis they have now to use for it.

the del sol was supposed to replace it.. but i dont think it was the best choise. it has to be a small 2 door again. the del sol is kinda cool but doesnt do it for me.
