Extending wires on previously installed alarm....
Anyone know if it is alright to extend the wires on an alarm that is already installed? Will I cause any ploblems by doing so? I need to relocate the brain and add a back up battery and piezo siren. Alarm is a compustar. Thanks
it is fine to extend the wires. only problems i could see is if u just put electric tape to keep the wires together.
There is no problem in extending the wires on the alarm, if your smart you will try and color and gauge match the wires as best as you can, you will extend all the wires that need extending at the same time on the bench, you will solder and shrink-tube the connections, you will spread the connections out at different lengths along the alarm harness, you will protect the alarm wire harness in convoluted tubing, electric tape, friction tape or whatever matches the cars wire harnesses the best.
Do you have a soldering gun/pencil, and 60/40 rosin core solder?
Do you know how to solder?
If not, it's time to learn.

PS, there is another way.
