1990 Honda Accord getting a code 43
Have had problems with this car since last year. (stoled it 4 years ago) I could not pass the inspection test last year so spent 100's of dollars at a shop. Not wanting to spend that kind of money again. Here is the problem. About 4 months ago my "check engine" light came on but I did not want to see it so I ignored it. Now, I can be going about 40mph holding the gas steady it all of a sudden starts to drop mph and rpm's. I have to pump the gas pedal in order for it stop dropping, then it drives just fine. After about 2 minutes the light comes on. So the light doesn't come on just when the rpm's and mph go down. No, the light will just pop on when it wants, some days it doesn't come on at all. i disconected the battery and then re connected. I checked the code and got a 43, nothing else. A 43 is a fuel supply system. I had the cap/roter/plugs/wires/O2 sensor/someother things replaced last year. What would be your steps in checking the fuel system and remember I am just some gal who has read the chilton on this car for ayear but dont really have any of the tools, so be kind.
Also I know I am in need of a new tranny or what ever this car takes. Thanks

I believe you will have to know how to use a voltmeter or a DVOM. If you know how to use one or can get someone that knows how to use one and has one. I could tell you the diagnostic procedure for your code.
your problem sounds like you have either a weak fuel pump or a clogged fuel filter. change the filter first and see if it takes care of your problem. the filter is located on the firewall near the throttle body. if your problem still exists, have a shop check the fuel pump. this can be torture if you dont have the right tools. hope this helps.
