Default Timing belt tensioner question

On the H22A guide for the swap i was wondering if anyone knew any more detail on "You may blow your engine only a few miles down the road , without fixing a little known problem with the timing belt tensioner on the H22." What does he mean can someone help me out with this??

they are referring to the common problem with the H22 auto tensioners. You can convert to the H23 manual tensioners, look more in the FAQ and you'll see the link that shows the parts needed and how to convert it.

The transmission type will not make any difference on the T-belt tensioner issue.

just look at the links and you'll quickly see why the tranny type doesn't matter.

So since i am doing the F22 to H22A swap is it really a requirement that i change the timing belt or will it work just fine with the one on the motor right now OEM

you should be fine, but do you know when it was last changed? Do you want to chance maybe snapping a belt and screwing more things up? Also, it's a lot easier to replace the timing belt, timing balancer belt and water pump while the engine is out of the car.
