Maybe I'm blind or retarded, but I couldn't find a cost on your site. I don't want to go through signing up for an account with myautoevents.com just to find out.

Thanks

ah yes forgot. they said it was 120.

60 cars max.

They have 2 track both identical, you pretty much race each other (side by side), so 30 on each side.

Kinda like Solo2, your time is not fully judged, its also your style of driving. so good time, and good style. Also you get a lot more runs then Solo2 autocross.

So your overall preformance, is not based on time!

Amateurs are more than welcomed to run. Drifting or sliding is welcomed But, I don't know if drifting would be the best technique to use for everybody? See, the object of Gymkhana is to try to go though the whole course as quickly as possible. Around tight turns or a 360's drifting might be faster but remember drifting dose cut speed a lot... A lot of FF car can corner pretty quick without sliding the rear.

Id like to see you guys out there, I hope I do.
Ill be helping the event out, and drive a lil.

Thanks.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHgjFPhhzY8 here is a video of Gymkhana, not ask crazy here, but you get the idea.

What the heck did I just watch? Did this guy actually complete a course, or was that more or less some kind of "freestyle" thing? Neat video

its an auto cross just not the typical SCCA auto-cross.

Were you see a car doing 180 or 360 around a cone THEY HAVE to do that. And the other weird stuff also.

In these weird situations like the 180's or 360's drifting or *** draging is probably the fastest way to do it.

Now where do the FWD cars fit in to this scene? I can't imagine a civic being much of a crowd pleaser seeing as this is partly a spectator and 'style' event. Looks like fun though.

you can use any style drive as you will. you can slide (ebrake slide). etc. be creative and maintain and fast pace.

That is not free style, you have to remember the track, and run it as fast as you can, looks like is a mix of combo's but its really a track!

When you see the guy stop and do a reverse, almost look like he messed up or something. But thats part of the run.

That video that you just saw, is like pro level Gymkhana. And when he stops and parks into place, its called "parking boxes" They are required to pass and sit (for a split sec) after a parking box line. And contiune with there run.

Hope it helps,
TUAN @ A Spec.

PS this track event will not be at pro level, its for all levels of all low or high skill driving level. Anyone is welcome to come.

I don't know about this event, but isn't gymkhana based strickly on TIME?
I never heard of a gymkhana being judged on style.

Good luck with your tires driving like that at El Toro That place eats tires at a regular AutoX, if you're going to be sliding around I'd imagine it would chew them up pretty bad.

Since I live about 10 mins from El Toro I'll probably stop by to watch. Looks like it could be fun

well your correct, it is mainly base on time. but to be fast, there will be some drifting and sliding going on. theres really no judge on style, really mainly time, i dont know y i said that. lol

uhh...once again Americans trying to replicate whats done in Japan.

Gymkhana is not based on your driving style.

its you vs the clock. Complete the course however you can. Fastest time wins. You wanna drift it, so be it. Ive never seen someone who drifts the course win it.

In fact FF usually dominates it. At least here in japan anyways...

Frank it looks REALLY simple.

The following are courses that will be used on Sunday, well 1 of the 2, still deciding on which one.

It's cool that gymkhana is making it's way back to its origins, well kind of started here in Japan, but by US military many, many years ago if I am not mistaken. Challenge the drivers though, what's fun about gymkhana is making drivers use their minds remembering what way they are supposed to go. The 2 courses I drew up are not even that difficult really, but that course that is planned doesn't look like it would be much fun. Well it's always fun to thrash the car in a closed environment, but for me, I like to be challenged and put a challenge to others. Best of luck with your event, hopefully it turns out good. Though $120 is what it costs for 3 events here, totemo takai desu!!!

Frank, don't be posting the pics locally

Can I recast my vote. #2 please.

heres how we can pick.
we will each drink beer tonight and stack our cans. your cans will be track #1, my cans will be track #2. whoever drinks the most beer is the track that will be used. sounds like a plan.

the last track was designed with about 8 beers in the gut, and that was fun. .

BTW, for everyone to know, this is the course that will be used on sunday for about 25 drivers.

yes FF usually dominates, looks hard but its not. even in the 360's cuz i believe FF would pull out of a turn a lot faster then a FR would, but then again, everyone has there own car and setup.
