Ebay/rice lights question
Does anyone know what size bulbs these really use? I know OEM is 9006, but these came with 9005 and I see the previous owner trimmed two little tabs to make them fit. Are these ebay lights supposed to take 9006 as well, or are the bulbs just stupid (they're also from ebay, so you know, can't really trust them)? I'm looking to upgrade my lighting and need to know if anyone has these and knows for sure. Thanks

If you need some headlights I have two sets from some 88-89s. By the looks of it yours is 90-91 though. Ahh either way I would lose the aftermarket lights, and if you need any parts let me know.
usually people put the 9005s in because they are brighter. I have seen those and even with a hid kit the lighting still sucks and is worse than stock
sorry to thread jack but can u use dat clear plastic housing the rice headlights come with on stock ones? to replace da glass that u cant really see through in the stock ones...

Wow, just wow *rolls eyes*
First of all, I've had the car a month. The rice lights came with it. I am FAR FROM a ******* ricer.
Second of all, I am looking for a set of OEM lights as we speak. This is just what I'm dealing with at the moment. Yes, the lighting sucks ***, which is why I was going to buy some cheap bulbs to hold me over until I find some OEM lights.
MY CAR IS A 88 CRX SI. Thank you. I'm pretty sure I know what year my ******* car is. I was not referring to the corners as the trimmed tabs. Those fit *ok* but not as perfect as OEM. Regardless they're ugly as hell. The headlight bulbs themselves have plastic trimmed on the inside so they'll plug into the harness.
God damn.
So basically I just keep using 9005 then...?

i have a set of oem headlights for sale, but one is missing the pan, but i can try and find it for you, email me if your interested artmo123@yahoo.com
speaking of people that have these "ricer" headlights, is there anyway to improve the oem headlights? i've used silverstars, aimed them, tried everything except HID. I must be doing something wrong because it's a dramatic change from my oem to my rice headlights.

I'll email you
My lights suck too. I can't even aim the pass. side cause the screw is stripped! They are pretty much pointed at the ground and dont put out good lighting. I thought my DA lights were bad, but I'd love to have them back (miss having fogs too!) instead of this BS. I was going to get Silverstars, but I guess I'll get OEM lights and then worry about that.

yep..
yep..
Ok so I looked at the pics of ur car on ur myspace (has a shot that shows the side), its definately an 88 Si (which you obviously know) but thats a 90-91 bumper, so you need 90-91 bumper lights, they are different and WILL NOT interchange at all, also factory ones are clear allthough they make aftermarket amber ones.

Haha, there are many more pics of me on Myspace...did I argue with you on g2ic before? i guess I probably have argued with everybody at some point...but it's not biggie like you said...I'm never really mad at anyone...the Junkman is ok, he's sold me some stuff so he's at least a good businessman. I don't have either of my DAs anymore, but I miss them like hell.
Huh...I had no idea the bumper was the newer one. Is the rear also a 90-91 or did someone just change the front. Yeah I need to get amber lenses, for sure. I don't know if you can tell in the pics but I'm having this problem with the hood fitting right, it seems to pop up a smidge and allow water/dirt/salt/whatever to get inside the bay...I mean it's a crack but still. Is that cause of the rice lights or something else? It doesnt pop up enough for you to actually open it, you still have to pull the tab..

The rear looks like 88-89 but the 88-89 and 90-91 are allmost exactly the same, only difference is the black trim part is different. Either way usually people only change the front bumper to 90-91.

the hood comes stock with peice or rubber molding running under the front of the hood. looks like you might be missing that peice.
so your hood doesnt pop up when opened? it sounds like your hood latch and hood are not lined up. look at the latch as it closes, make sure they line up. you can loosen the bolts on the strike(in front of radiator) to move it.
by the way I was very pleased with PIAA super bright white bulb ($70 or so but worth it), in oem housing brand new $300+ they reflect light better than my old ones. also adjustment is crucial. i compared the stock 9005(highbeam) to the PIAA 9006(lowbeam) both in the lowbeam section, and the PIAA lights were better. I bet PIAA 9005(highbeams) are even brighter but they are only 50 more watts and you have to trim the tabs of the bulb.

Yeah I probably am missing that...no, the hood works fine and all I was just saying the gap wasnt big enough to where you could actually open it without popping it first.
you can use 9005's if you dont mind trimming the tabs. people use these cause they're a little brighter, with cheap bulbs anyway. I think expensive bulbs are just as good in my opinion and you dont need the 9005's.
9006 is the stock lowbeam, I would stick to these unless you want to trim the tabs on the bulb.
like my previous post i really like my piaa super bright white lights, It was night and day.
