Need some expierienced help figuring out an ignition problem! PLEASE
I have a 97 civic LX with a greddy kit and someother goodies. Recently, every once in a while(weeks), apon accelorating after the car has warmed up, the car feels like I suddenly lifted off the gas padel but my foot never moves. It is not when I am boosting hard, just pulling away from the bank teller will do it.
So, it has done it twice befor yeasterday and everytime I was afraid to drive it, so I reset the ECM and everything would be fine. The local machanics had no idea where to start without a code, and Honda wouldn't touch it. So finally 3 weeks later, the CEL light came on when I started the motor in the morning and 20 min later; it happened again! Except this time I was over playing this game with my car so I punished it and drove it to the local mechanic.
4 codes appeared:
-po505, idle control malfunction
-po303, #3 misfire
-po304, #4 misfire
-p1300, controlled ignition misfire
This is all they would do once they saw my (95 civic EX) intake manifold with extra sensors chillin. Well, they wouldn't take the time to listen to my mods so Here I am Hanging out with my pride and joy and no one can tell me what is wrong. The codes they gave me don't match the codes in the Helms so I am lost.
I understand the cylinder misfires, only if the (p1300) controlled ignition misfire caused it. I have no Idea what a CIM is? Would an idle control malfunction cause that to happen? or the cylinders? How in the hell does this happen every once in awhile. So far I have been lucky to not have this happen when I am racing. It is an abrupt, strong power loss, and if you don't baby the gas padel it is a wild ride! Yee-Haw! Sorry for the lame humor. If anyone out their could help a honda lover out I would greatly appriciate it. The Car Gods will too! Thanks
