ball joints: how to..
so i've explained my problem of something suspension related making a popping sound when i turn steering wheel from one side to the other.. everyone seems to say it's my ball joint..
so im wondering what would i be looking for while looking into it..
if i find something to be wrong with the ball joint, could it be something i could replace myself or would i need a mechanic..?
thanks..
ps: already searched

Depends on which ball joint it is. If it's an outer tie rod, you can easily buy new tie rods w/ new ball joints included and install them yourself. You will need an alignment afterwards.
If it's the upper ball joint, sometimes you can get those replaced (need a hydraulic press), but other times you have to replace the whole control arm. Alignment is not totally necessary but wouldn't hurt.
For the lower ball joint, you definitely will have to get someone to press it out and press a new one in. If you remove the spindle to take it to a mechanic, then you have to separate all the other ball joints anyway and will need an alignment.
