Default Strange noise

A week or so ago this sound appeared. It's a strange noise coming from the engine compartment, sounds like a combination of someones stomach groaning and the whine of an electric motor. It kicks in mostly when I take my foot off of the gas and let the car deccel in gear, but also would occasionaly do it when I would pop it into neutral and coast. The sound became much louder last sunday and I noticed a sort of deep hum/groan while I was in gear giving it gas. I'm not getting any warning lights and the performance doesn't seem to be affected much by it, maybe just slightly bogged down feeling during the groan. Please let me know if you have any idea what could be causing this, and any way to remedy the problem. The car is a 1995 GS-R.

Thanks,
Alex

No, it's not rpm dependent. Does your car make the groaning noise along with the whine?
