v-afc good or bad???
i just bought a 95 si vtech with intake header full exhaust, supposed to have a rebuilt block and cams in it with a vafc to tune it. Is this a good part to use or would i be better off with something else. I'm new to the whole import scene and dont know much. I bought the car from a really old guy and he has the vtech so its kicking in at 6900 rpm, this seems a little high, but i dont wanna mess with the vafc since i've never used one before. Any imput would be appreciated, i want to learn as much as i can!
Thanks
Thanks
if you dont have an answer.......
as long as you dont make any adjustments you can go through the VAFC screens without changing anything. There is a screen for changing the vtec crossover. I forget what its labelled but its pretty evident from what i remember.
If the crossover is 6900 like you stated, drop it to 5200. That is the stock engagement RPM.
But honestly, i would just remove it completely from the ecu. There will be two wires that you need to resolder together. I wanna say its the vtec signal wire and map sensor signal wire. Taking the vafc off will remove anything that the guy had potentially toyed with on the vafc.

It runs strong, i'm gonna pull off the valve cover tonight to see what cams are in it, its been well maintained came with a book of receipts, a couple of friends told me i'd be better off just chippin the ecu, i just want a good street setup, cause i have no idea when vtech's supposed to come on or anything
