Default No clutch..

so, my car has an issue, when you depress the clutch, nothing happens. it's still engaged fully, and i can't drive it. the car is an '88, but i was told it has a newer motor in it, looking at the trans, it has an L3-1 sticker on it, which means 88-89 tranny, so, would it be safe to assume that it's still the '88 tranny in it? i know for sure the clutch cable is good, and it has a weird pulsation when depressing the clutch, so i'm thinking it's either the TOB, or pressure plate. i plan on getting a clutch kit soon, and was just looking for some more input as to which year the tranny would be.

i don't understand how the cable can be misadjusted, but no there are no scraping noises. i did notice that the clutch pedal was weird, it would engage at the top of the pedal travel, and just a slight pressure would make it slip. could i adjust this with the cable? do you think it may have stretched enough to make the pedal kind of pointless? the pulsation is hard to describe, when you depress the clutch, it's kind of like using a come-a-long type deal with the teeth that drop down on the wheel, if you understand what i'm talking about, you know the feeling perfectly. i did go buy a clutch kit because me and a friend decided it might be the trow out bearing, or pressure plate based on the symptoms, pushing the clutch pedal didn't release the clutch, but you could run through every gear with the car off, and i still had resistance on the pedal.

There is a plastic adjustment nut towards the end of the cable where it attaches to the lever on the trans... check there for adjustment.

Pull the lever up towards the sky with your hand, and make sure the plastic nut is pretty much flush/screwed down to the bracket mounted on the trans.

I have a 90 si and just replaced my clutch disc and cover (because a bolt came out) and now i have the same problem. I can run through the gears with the car off without pressing the clutch, and I can put the car in gear with probably a 1.5-2" push of the clutch. I replaced my clutch cable and it is as tight as I can get it.

Any updates on yours?
