i have a little surface rust on my drums. i just want to paint them black so they look better that the rust orange don't worry im not going rice!
i have some por 15 but im not sure how well it will do on the drums since they will get a little hot. will the por 15 be enough? should i just use caliper paint directly on the drum or should i por 15 the drum and then top coat with caliper paint?

 

I'd sand them down and paint with a high temp caliper paint.

Not if you sand that **** off.

 

well if i remember right the surface is not smooth so i don't know how i can sand all of the rust away.

 

back in the day i sanded mine off and painted the with rustoleum. they lasted for quite a while

 

just use a wire wheel of some sort there like $5 and it'll take off all that rusty crap. then spray it with either rustoleum or a high temp engine paint or other high temp paint.

 

are you saying that rustoleum is better to use than por 15? i can't believe that the rustoleum wouldn't flake of.
