I have a Honda CR-v 2000 model, with just over 90,000 miles and there is a loud ticking and scraping noise coming from the engine. This noise styarted about 83,000m as a slight ticking under the valve cover, that was most prominent when car was in idle. Honda, then did a full intake side clean and decarbon, and then re-adjusted the valve clearence, and tappets. The sound was gone for about 5 days then one day i drove to the store, turned off, got some ****, came back turned the car o , and the sound was there, but this time it was really loud. Actually, it asppears to be louder when i come of the gass and let the car hang on the gear to slow down.
Can anyone help?

Time to take it back to the dealership and have them look at it again.
Btw... there is a TSB regarding a problem of valves collapsing with the 99 - 01 CRV's.
Also you should consider the timing belt change ...at 7 years and over 90k it's due. It's an interference type of engine and if the belts goes so does the motor.
Cheers.

The distributor bearing is loud in some of the 1gen crv's as well. This usually occurs after the engine has been revved and is usually heard near the dist or under the valve cover. hth
