Default good sub set up for a low price

My girlfriend just bought me a pioneer deh-p3900mp stereo for valentines, and since i put in a new stereo, i figured ill put in new pioneer speakers cause i didnt want a good stereo with rotting stock speakers. I bought a pos sub system off ebay which no longer works. Any advice on where i can get a good system on a tight budget?

Im pretty sure ive learned my lesson about ebay but a friend bought something similar to this on ebay and says its working fine. Would you recommend?

No. Do not buy that system. You can piece together a better one. Exactly how much are you looking to spend?

You can actually get a really nice sub setup for that price. Are you looking more at sound quality or loud *** boomy bass? Is it 400-500 for just the sub setup or does that include the speakers? Infinity makes a good product if you are more into the sound quality department.

You can get something from Elemental Designs here: http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/index.php

get something like:
eD 11kv.2 dual 2 ohm @ $115
NINe.2 amp @ $220
and build your own box for it.

Wire the sub up in series and bridge the amp and then you are set

im not into having a super loud bass so that the parts on my car vibrate. I want something that sounds good that if i felt like can crank up a little bit w/o worrying about blowing anything out. 400-500 like for everything including cabling and enclosure...

also, if you don't mind buying used stuff try caraudio.com/forum or caraudioforum.com

and for boxes...there is a guy on one of those forum that goes by car audio guy (or something like that) that builds boxes to specs for a real good price...check it out

You can get them for cheaper. Circuit City used to have them bogo free. I think car toys had the same deal. I got one for $50 from circuit city because my friend bought one and we split the price.

I'll second the Elemental Designs referal. I have a 9kV.2 in a slot ported box only getting 100 W RMS and its loud and very musical.
