Default F23A1 SOHC VTEC 2.3L head... can it be used on F22 blocks???

I've searched and the closest info i got was: yes it "should" bolt on. Does anyone know for sure? I picked up this cylinder head off a 98 Acura CL and I'm trying to see what are my options with it....Anyone?

well, since people have put the F22B1 SOHC VTEC heads onto other F22 blocks I would assume it would fit just the same. Maybe start out by comparing the head gasket of the F23A1 to the head gasket of the F22B1, then you'll have an idea of how similar the swap would be. Maybe also compare it to the head gasket of the block you plan to use. There is a link in the FAQ for the F22B1 head onto a F22Ax block, so you could use that as a guide for what to compare.

I'm in for the answer, but don't know for sure. TA has it right, go up to Honda and ask to look at a head gasket for an F23 and an F22b1. If the water and oil passages line up, you're good to go. Check the bolt pattern, obviously, but that should be okay.

Not that I could know this for sure, but if everything works you should probably stud the head when you put it on. It's cheap insurance and addresses the weakest link in the motor.

Yeah you guys are right... I looked up the head gasket but f22 and f23 are listed as different. I probably will have to actually look at them and line them up. Thanks YALL!!!

The headgaskets will be different because F22 blocks have a 85mm bore, while F23 blocks have a 86mm bore. The headgaskets are 86mm and 87mm, respectively.

You're right ^^, but i should be able to find out if it will fit or not by looking at the gaskets right?
