Default 98 Honda Accord - Fuel System error help

Hi, I've searched and also went through every page and thread in the Accord forum and haven't found what I'm looking for. basically what's going on is I purchased a used 98 Accord 5 speed, 4 cylinder vtec. I had to replace the ignition coil/rotor/spark plugs and cables, and since then its been driving fine.

The problem I'm having is I have a check engine light on, and the error message I'm getting when I had the computer error checked is "fuel system 1 open loop". I've googled and searched quite a few forums, and have come up empty.

Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.

If you will post the actual PXXXX code, I'll be more than happy to look at the Honda diagnostic chart for you.

Is your car acting/driving differently? It may just be the fuel tank pressure sensor. It senses if you left the gas cap off.

Hondadude >> unfortunately, we didn't get a P---- code, all it said was "fuel system 1 open loop"

stinker504 >> I've only had the car about 3 weeks at this point. When I got it I was only getting (I'm in Canada so its in KM) 400 km/tank. After a few days of owning the car I had to change the ignition coil/rotor/spark plugs/cables/distributor cap, and now I get a nice 600 KM/tank.

Other than that experience when I first got the car, I haven't had any problems. and, I have never left the gas cap off (and I fail to see how anyone can come close to ever doing that).

I was actually suggesting that the sensor was broken. It’s connected to your rear EVAP system. If you jack your car up you’ll see three sensors connected to your EVAP system (right in front of your fuel tank). It’s a two wire sensor and one of the wires is green/black. I’m not sure the color of the second wire ( I think it’s yellow).

Sorry... I'm kind of a novice at car repairs. I can do basic maintenance (oil changes, radiator flushes, spark plugs, etc), but beyond that, I have no clue.

I will however take alook this weekend and see if I can check the sensors this weekend.

Any suggestions as far as a basic repair manual for the Accord? I used to use a Chiltons for my Camry back in the day.
