Resistor box wiring, 6 black wires? 6 cyl?

Resistor box wiring, 6 black wires? 6 cyl?
Hi guys, got a resistor box that has 6 black wires and 1 red, can i assume this is from a 6 cylinder car and will work fine if i just use the 4 i need?
