Default Je vs JDM

Just a quick questions i have a ls/vtec and was wondering If i should put Ctr's in it or Je pistons. I figure JDM will give me more compression and power, but im spraying either a 75 or 100 shot and dont know if the JDM's can hold up to that!!!
thanks!!

Honda pistons are cast. They are weak.

JE pistons are decent forged units.

Expand your options. CP's and Wiseco's would be my first choice before even thinking about JE's or OEM.

I think JE makes great pistons. The main reason people were quick to jump to Wisecos or Arias is because JE used generic domestic style forgings for import pistons. I believe that is changing now--JE has a new line up of import specific forgings that are optimized for smaller, high-revving motors.

I have used JE and SRP and they both have been great.

Don't get me wrong, JE is a great piston manufacturer. Their newer pistons have definatley improved on weight, and they are usually the cheapest when you want to do a custom set w/raised pin etc.

However, I still have grief with their alloy. They use a low Manganese/high copper content Forging stock that doesn't have any flaws in strength, but allows for a higher thermal expansion and resulting cold-start 'piston slap'.

These two pistons are really in two totally different leagues. The type r is just a standard cast piston that is high compression. The only special thing about it is the coated skirts. The je piston is a forged unit that is much much much more durable.
