Just wondering if its worth swapping out the old D16Y8 for an OBD2 LS motor. (I can do this swap for like $500 for everything I need)

I know I'll get more torque, but will I lose alot of top end (even though the my SOHC doesn't have much to begin with)

If I do this, it's because I don't want to spend alot of money. Later upgrades would ONLY be I/H/E, type R intake manifold and some cam gears and wild cams. That's it... NO LS/VTEC!!! No LS TURBO!!!

Do you guys think I should do this? and if I do, what kinda times do you think I'd be able to run on street tires?]

If you gut it out, remove ac, and run on slicks.

 

get a gsr tranny

 

You won't loose top end. YOu will gain it over the Y8

Not much horsepower increase only what 13 at the fly stock but, the torque is what makes cars go not horsepower.

Horsepower is only how fast you can rev your torque.

do you guys know how much a 94-+ LS integra weighs and my 96-00 EX coupe?

I don't think there's much difference and at fontana, my civic was running the same times as similar moded LS integras, which would be the only reason I wouldn't want to put the LS in my car.

But on the other hand I HATE HAVING NO torque!!!

 

EX weight is 24XX lbs.
I am not sure about the LS.

i've got an stock LS (just POS pepboys intake) in my '92 CX. I realize a coupe will be heavier, but just last night alone i whooped 3 EX's, and 3 CRX Si's with FIVE people in my car. hahahaha..they didn't know what hit them. torque

with 5 people in your car?!?....If I put 3 people in may car, it takes me about 4 minutes to get to 60 MPH!!!

 

yes it is worth it. just when you do it get a b16a tranny or gsr.. ls tranny sucks.. if your going to run turbo the ls might be better.. i have this done in my 93 dx hb.. its pretty quick but it would be faster if i had a gsr tranny..

i have an ls in my hatch. its a 92 si... its stock but it feels pretty quick, im waiting to get i/h and some cams before i take it to the track. by the way does any one know what a hatch with a mildly built ls would run? thanks.

Im not swapping an LS but a B20Z which is similar
Id like to move forward and complete the swap but I'm having a hard time sourcing a GSR tranny.
Oh yeah, an OBDII LS swap for 500 is a steal !!!!

The underhood harnesses plug right in . I used a P75 LS ECU (95 Integra LS). It's all plug and play. No cutting, wiring, BS.........

 

I have a friend who recently swapped out 2 ls's for a B18C5 and a B16a , so he's selling me one of them for $500 for everything , the other ones he's building a LS/vtec.

so...NO they weren't stolen!
