if your car is registered in a different state you dont need to abide by the laws of another state i believe...so you should be fine and not have to worry about it...this is my guess at best...here is how i think i know my buddy built a camaro and it has illegal exhaust and sold to his bro in cali and keeps it registered in idaho...and the cops cant mess with him and he doesnt have to pass inspections

If the cops see that the guy is obviously living in CA they can slap him with fines for not registering his car at his place of residence.
I've seen cops in my town sit at the entrances of subdivisions. I live right south of Memphis just over the MS state line, and if cops see cars pulling out of subdivisions early in the morning (around 7-8 a.m.) with TN tags on them, they'll pull 'em over.

if you have texas plates on your car i don't see how they can pull you over and ticket you...your car is not registered as a cali car therefore emissions laws shouldn't apply, just standard laws of driving....speeding is one thing but having an intake on your car is another
just don't worry about it. take it from someone who lives in L.A.
I see different license plates all the time here. NY, IOWA, FLORIDA, NEVADA. mostly the ones I see getting pulled over are CA plates.
Do not worry about it. Oh and I know someone I went to college with and he drove around his 00 vw bug and he had Idaho license plates (2 yrs driving,he was my neighbor). Never got in trouble once, and it was fixed up too.
So do not worry too much, you are too paranoid man.
Like someone stated earlier as long as you are not doing anything illegal a.k.a street racing etc...etc... drunk driving you get the point.
