Why buy the Base Fit over the Fit Sport? And other questions...
1) Why buy the Base Fit over the Fit Sport?
2) For those of you who have made the selection to go with the BASE Fit, what was your main reason(s)?
3) For those of you who selected the Fit SPORT, what was your reaon(s)?
4) I'm curious to see if some of you selected the Base Fit because you had plans to modify it and didn't care about the added features of the Fit Sport.

I bought the Sport because it will remain mostly stock, appearance wise. I like the fog lights and lip kit already in place, painted, warrantied, etc. Wheels, drop, wing (maybe) will be the extent of mods, it's primarily for the family, afterall.
If I had the money I'd buy a base model, strip it entirely, drop in a K, and race it. Oh, and if if's and but's were candy and nuts...

My friend's reason: Paddle shifter and alloy wheels. And its part of his mom's car too.
I would pick the Sports too, mainly because, most of the options I would want in a car was included. The body kit, the lights.

not to mention the lip kit and wheels.

I bought the Base a week ago for a few reasons. I really don't like the look of the sport, don't like the little roof spoiler, don't care about the paddle shifters. The only thing I would have liked is the aux in for my Sirius radio but it wasn't worth close to $2000 more (that's what they want in NY). I'm very happy with the Base!

That is the main reason that i would buy a Sport over the base. But i do like the wheels, body "kit" upgraded radio, and Fogs.
When i order mine in the next few months i will order the Sport.

The only thing I miss on my base model is cruise control. Everything else I didn't really care about.
I added OEM key less entry myself, so, that wasn't a big deal either.

I chose the Fit Sport because I wanted all of the extra options that it came with. I would have spent much more upgrading these things myself, epecially since factory Honda parts is the way to go
I love the leather wrapped sterring wheel, paddle shifters, cruise control, lip kit, fog lights, alloy wheels, wing, upgraded stereo.
I figured might as well get everything with it and if I decide to replace any of these parts, I would just sell them to base fit owners

You couldn't get half of that for the $1200 it costs to upgrade to the Sport.

The Sport is a better deal, if the add-ons mean something to you. We got the base as its mostly my wife's car and she can't tell the difference between the steel wheels and the alum. wheels. As for paddle shifters, she doesn't have a clue why anyone would want those. We did add the remote keyless entry as that was something she did want.
Same engine, same great magic seats, same roomy interior, same fun to drive. If both were on the lot I would pick the Sport. Problem is around here you can't find a Sport. I had a chance to pick up a base in the right color and trans and it really suited my wife who is the primary driver.
Now, I will add some wheels, only $300 upgrade and I will be happy. :-)
Price is more than $1200 difference around here. Its so hard to find a Sport, they jack it up with add-ons.

Now that I have a Sport, I find the base looks naked.
I love the leather wrapped steering wheel, darker seat fabric, exterior look, and all the oterh options they added to the Sport.
I use my cruise daily too.

After looking at the honda.com site, looks like the US Fit either have black or beige seats. In Canada you either get black (Sport) or dark grey (DX and LX) with accents.
