ok, so my winter beater is a stock 93 civic DX automatic

now my problem is that, starting yesterday while the car is in park or neutral the idle continues to rev pretty high about every 2 seconds (as if someone was stepping on the gas and reving out to about half throttle over and over again. .)

also, while in gear. . the car continues to do this if i am stopped at a red light but the rev. seems to increase (to about the same as if a person were to be stepping full throttle on the gas at the same of about every 2 seconds). also, if i am to put the car in gear or even just take my foot off the brake from a dead stop the car will automatically take off and ghost ride itself to a steady 31mph and will cruise control itself there until i hit the brakes where it will stop until the brake is released and the prob. continues all over again... but the thing is that the DX didnt come with cruise control. .

now, i have checked the fluid's in the car and everything is perfect,
checked the throttle switch which is also fine,
fuel pump was recently changed so i can pretty much rule that out,
and the idle itself is also set perfect. .

so besides the fact that the car is an automatic (my biggest issue)
anyone out there ever face this problem before or have any other idea's of what could be causing this? cuz at this point i'm about ready to ghost ride the whip into a river. .

maybe there is a ghost living in your car screwing with you
