Single-Cam D16Z6 Supercharger Setup?
I realize that turbo setups are superior to superchargers in many ways, but honestly I'm just trying to squeeze about 200 or more horsepower out of a D16Z6. With oversized valves, stage 2 cams, low compression pistons, light-weight alloy internals and bigger injectors (etc) do you think it's possible to achieve this kind of horsepower with say a Jackson supercharger setup? I'm considering supercharger over turbo for cost benefit and ease-of-installation, since I am building a low-horsepower street car not a dragster. What can I expect from a setup like this?
Also, who makes the quietest exhaust systems, and is there any tricks I can use to increase the sound dampening without turbo or restricting exhaust flow? I'm thinking maybe 2-1/4'' to 3'' pipe with a Burns Stainless muffler. I don't really want to be heard for miles around like the rest of these guys. Do you think forking my exhaust at the end into two mufflers would benefit sound dampening?
Finally, does anyone have any recommendations for brands to go with (as far as engine internals go)?
Thanks for the help

i'm not so sure about the cost benefit of a supercharger, but you should check out http://www.theoldone.com. if you're serious about it ask if they can modify the magnusen blower and make the intake manifold for you.
The endyne SC mods will make it much more efficient, but also louder (whine). For the exhaust, you'll never quite get away from silence going hand-in-hand with backpressure, but your best bet is a larger baffled muffler. Magnaflow makes some multi-chamber mufflers which might work well. Making it a dual outlet with twin baffled mufflers would get you the noise supression as well as the flow you need. Kinda overkill though, not to mention you'll risk hearing the ricer comments.
BTW the only alloys I'd used for internals on a boosted motor would be aluminum for the pistons and steel for the rods. Aluminum and titanium rods suck for longevity.

You might want to check out a book at Barns and Nobles or wherever called, "How to build Honda Horsepower by RIchard Holdener." Near towards the back of the book, it'll show a EG with a D16Z6 setup with S/C pushing about hair shy of 200HP. That might give you a idea what you should do.
And for the internal, also look for a book called, "High-performance Honda Builders Handbook Vol.1 By Pettite."
For the catback...either Magnaflow with baffled chamber, Apex WS, or Greddy Evo probably.
For Internal, check those books out for idea's.

Yes, I have the book by richard holdner. Buy it. Tons of info on what they used to create a 195whp SC Z6. Car ran 140+ mph on stock pistons/rods. They used a small m45 SC that was pushing its limits. But that was 2-3 years ago. Since then better cams, better headers, and better air intakes of came out. so netting 5whp on that same car should be easy today.
Dont let anyone tell you to go turbo. If you want to go SC, then do it. I think Holdner said that it felt like driving a big bore v6 instead of a tiny 1.6l. Tons of fun just driving around since boost is always there. And could charge right on up to 150mph.
