Wheel Spacer and wide wheels
Is there any advantage to running them if your not going to rub? I plan on running some 15x8s will they rub without using a spacer of some sort ?

Running what and what purpose need some detail. Backspacing has alot to do with it. Simply put if your drag racing using slicks or drag radials it will work better on a 8 inch wide wheel vs a 6.5 or 7. Your getting more tire compound on the ground.

15x8 +40mm Rota Slips barely fit in the front with with 225/45/15 Hoosier tires, and do rub on the rear unless the rear fender lips are rolled and you shave down that mounting tab for the rear bumper.
Why would you want to use spacers, unless you have a really high offset wheel? As the +40s get very, very close to front upright. You might be able to go +45mm, but not more than that. I wouldn't want to use a spacer with a +40mm, as you're already increasing the scrub radius by a fair amount.
I wouldn't use spacers unless you use longer lug studs too.

Yes, that's my car.

Ok. Will the weight of the 15x8 hurt acceleration but that much vs say a 6.5 or 7 i think its like 4lbs difference. Im not saying launch im saying from say a 15 mph roll. From a stop the 15x8 should help the most correct ....like u said more tire on the ground ....?
Its a 5th gen

My car is a track car, so I'm more concerned about cornering performance than straight line acceleration (that's not to say that straight line acceleration is not important on a track, it is). So I'm willing to trade off the weight for having a tire that has a wider contact patch.

That's a picture of two pairs of Hoosier 225/45/15 race tires. The left set is on 15x7 Kosei K1 wheels. The set on the right is on 15x8 Rota Slips. The difference in the stacked height (i.e. OA width of the tire) is almost an inch! It's very close to 15/16", so you're looking at almost 1/2" increase in OA tire width going from a 7" to 8" rim. IMO, the additional 2 or 3 lb weight penalty is worth it. The 15x8s weigh 14.5 lbs.
I went with a 15" tire because the 225/45/15 is a smaller OD, which gives me a little more suspension travel, brings the car down a little lower, and gives me a slight gearing advantage, even with the 4.714 FD that I run.
The other tire size choices would be a 225/50/16, 245/45/16, or 235/40/17. All of those sizes have an OD 0.4" to 0.7" larger than stock, and 1.6" to 1.9" larger than the 225/45/15s!! With my shocks set to the same "ride height" as a friend of mine that runs on 225/50/16s, my car is 0.75" lower due to the tire size.
Weight isn't that big of a difference. A 16x7 Rota Slip is a tad lighter than the 15x8, and the tires weigh almost the same.

WOW, nover realized it made that big a difference. I run 225/50/15 r-comps on my stock wheels. Looks like I could really use some wider wheels for racing. 6.5"s ain't cuttin' it.
