ECU compatability....HELP
My brothers '92 civic (LX,4 door, A/T) died on him. Turns out he isnt getting spark. Checked fuses, timing belt and 3 "new" distributors later, still NO SPARK.....So i pulled the main relay from my '94 integra and swapped it in...Still NO SPARK. We're thinking its the ECU, So i was wondering if the ECU in my '94 integra rs would work as a "tester" in his car?
Hondata's website says its "suitable", but will it work?

if you want to use it just to start it up...go right ahead...but i dont think it'll be the ECU...since you tried new distributors...you dont think your spark plug wires might be bad??
Thanks for the link, its very informative. I checked all of the secondary ignition, replaced all the primary and im pretty sure his CEL is stuck on. According to the "troubleshooting Flowchart" in the link you gave me it says "Check the ignition switch, main relay or ECU".....But would an ignition switch just "go out"? His dash lights have never gone out and its not like it stalled.
But I CAN use my integra ecu in his car? It would be a simple way of ruling it out if i could use it....
Thanks for the site tho man, im definately going to use it.

electrical problems tend to happen like that, one minute they are fine the next nothing...
the teg ECU should work fine as a check for spark application. But I wouldn't run the car more than a few minutes on it.
Also it may have a CEL, but if it makes the car spark who cares right.
Like B18CivicEH2 said... I doubt it's the ECU, they don't tend to go bad. More likely it's a fuse, a wire, a connection or the ignition switch.
BTW: auto P06's are pretty cheap, just in case the ECU is the problem.
