Default Type R In Winter

Anybody here drives theirs in the winter?

Just curious, so don't start bashing!

Thinking of getting one as a DD, which means it has to go threw the winter...it's either that or a Prelude (which I already owned)

Any advice on how to keep it in somewhat good shape during the winter is appreciated

Well has yours ever seen salt or not at all?

My sister owns a teg and she drives it all year round, and theirs not a spot of rust on that thing, I'm hoping an ITR is the same.

Get an extra set of wheels with winter tires on them.

That's kinda cool, what's the mileage on your beater? Mine has only 58k and it has been in my family for 9 years already

Yeah, unfortunately my R saw some salt last week (first time ever ) because I had to let my dad drive the Accord for few days.

267 000 going on 268 000 km.

I have to get rid of the Type S. Need to save up for other things, and the Type R is what I want, I've been in a stock one on the track and I must say, that thing handles like crazy! The car earned my respect that day!

Handles like a champ and sounds crazy, and the beauty is that it's STOCK! lol

I know exactly what you mean,
Mine is stock except Comptech Icebox and some retrofit Lexus HID's and it is going to stay that way

I'm actually thinking about buying a Type R shell and building one from scratch (that one would be my track car)

The only thing I'm adding is an HID Kit. nothing else.
I love that car, you just put gas, do your tune ups, oil changes, good set of tires and it sticks out of the crowd, no money needed in this or that type thing.

If you drive it in the winter, I would get it rust-proofed and wash it a lot and try not to take it out when there's a ton of salt on the roads and well I guess that's it. Man I wouldn't drive it in the winter.

Leave it in the garage for the winter.
Starts it and let it run for 30 min in once a week.
Keep a good coat of wax or polish and dust it off ever so often until Spring comes.
Keep good maintence on your DD.

My cousin, sisters fiance(stolen but found yesterday) and I all drive it during the winter. I only had experience in snow just this past winter but its really not that bad, honestly. I got some winter rims and GOOD winter tires and rust-proof waxed it and its all good. Chicago gets lots of snow and salt!!! Its really not that bad. Sisters fiance has been doing this with his R for the past 5 years until recently it got stolen, but hes dropping a K20 R motor when he gets money from insurance. Anyways, his car is in fine shape as well. Just give it good maintanence and you be fine!! Im letting you know from experience

agreed...i will most likely drive mine in the winter (starting next year) i will not have another car...i had a civic sir which i drove 5 winters in a row...the original paint looked MINT when i sold it...no one could believe it was original...no rust or any kinds of problems...i rustproofed it every year and washed it twice a week and i will do the same with my R...

As long as you have the proper tires, the R in the winter is great. I use some Dunlop graspics ds1's and haven't had a problem getting around for the last few winters.

The car is extremely well planted and secure, plus you are getting pulled!

its slowly developing around the rear quarter panels because some of the paint has chipped away you have to look from underneath to see it though.

brings a tear to my eyes whenever i see it. i'll fix it this summer
