Weighed My Car This Weekend...
Went to a county water authority plant and used their scale to weigh my car.
Although I question the scale's accuracy because of it's size and the fact that it read 200lbs. BEFORE we put a car on it, I guess it gives me an idea of my car's weight.
2040lbs. with 1/2 tank. 5 gallons of gas = 40lbs. or so, so my weight is:
2000lbs. even.
My pal that works there does say that the scale isn't perfect though, because it measures big-*** trucks that weigh 32,000lbs. or so, so it isn't really calibrated to measure tiny crap like cars like mine.
I'll se for sure this weekend at the strip.
My set-up could be lighter if I had a header rather than the cast-iron stock manifold, non-Airbag steering wheel, and a C/F hood.
The header alone would net me sub-2000lbs.
I'll list the complete set-up later when I have more time, but real quick:
1992 CX stripped (details later)
B18C5 swap
4-wheel disc brakes
Later y0!

Thats pretty light! GOod job on the car. You are the most **** person on ht about the civic hatch weight, so keep up the good work.
By the way, I weighed my Si this weekend. 2505, with me in it, full interior, 1/4 tank of gas.
Its cool, just turn up the boost a little bit if anyone wants to whine about how heavy it is.

Yeah those big scales meant for trucks aren't anywhere near accurate enough to measure the miniscule weight of a car. The truck guys aren't looking for alot of accuracy, they just have to make sure they are under the weight limit for whatever state they are driving through. Take your car to a track or try to get on a set of corner scales to get an accurate measurment.

Okay so what's removed to help get sub-2000lbs. on a 1992 CX?
Removed the following:
Tar (not much - used dry ice method)
Carpet
Headliner
Door plastics and plastic sheets with goo
Rear plastic panels including hatch plastic
Knee bolster bar
No rear seats or seatbelts
No spare (that's a given
)
Firewall mat on the inside of the car
NO radio or speakers - VTEC is just fine
All SRS ECU and harnesses
No wipers or wiper motor - Rain-X works like a charm
Car already had no A/C at all, no power steering, etc.
Lighter wheels - Rota 15x6.5 @ 12lbs. a piece
Tanabe Super Medallion Racing Spec - 1/2 the stock exahust weight
What's still there that some people remove?
Both bumper suports
Side impact beams
Driver side airbag (will remove)
Heater Core (got to have heat y0!)
What's there that ADDS weight?
B18C5 motor swap
Rear disc conversion
My plans to furher lighten the car include the previously mentioned addition of a header (should save at least 15lbs.) and later down the road a C/F hood.

well
my car weighed in at 2140 w/o me in it! with less then 1/4 tank gas, JL Audio speaker box..my damn (2) tool boxes...and full interior..and more junk in the trunk, so i think now that it's gutted..it probably weighs somewhere in 1900lbs (Hypothectically Speaking)

I have a 92 CX EG, fully stripped -- everything is gone per your list above except for the windsheild wipers (if one adds 5hp, 2 add 10hp, right
, full ITR drivetrain, and ITR suspension/brakes -- and a 8 point cage and it weighs 2250lb. I think it had near a full tank of gas when weighted, so 2200lb is a pretty good dry estimate. I think the cage adds ~100-150lb -- so I guess we're in the same ballpark.btw, weighed on very accurate corner weights.

cf hood ownz you....LOL
on the car over all once again,
and you know what **** the c/f hood!
keep it as light as possible without all the
typical cf pieces, leave the car as O.E. looking
as possible IMO. i love the ride the way it is...

My car is a pig...93 CX with GSR swap=2500lbs

I used the scales where I work they are pretty acurate. My car has everything GSR swap,GSR suspension ,ac ,stereo ,pwr windows+locks even a spare tire and jack.
Get a CF hood and paint it VSM if you don't like the "look"of the weave.
The weight advantage of the CF hood is worth it.
Personally, the black hood would finish off the car and a duckbill.
Again, you could paint both to make it more of a sleeper.
