i was just wondering the name of the white color on 98 ex coupes. where do you do to get the paint made in can for you. my friend said that gloss white spray paint will match really really close, does anybody know if this is true?

you want to get the color code from your driver's door jamb. its probably frost white or taffeta white.

 

Bodyshop and Paint supply shops can usually mix your paint with adhesion promoters and hardeners and pack it into a spraypaint can. It's usually around $30-50 to mix a quart of paint (you give them a color code), and then $10 per spraycan (a quart usually nets 4 cans).

 

Get the color code from your door jamb and then go to a Autobody supply store.

I did that and got a quart to paint my replacement hatch. It's kinda hard to find a mint Midori Green hatch in a junkyard so I had to grab a Milano Red one. I also grabbed the seats and interior trim pieces too. Speakin of side skirts I need to go back and get the sideskirts off that same car.

 

The stock '98 Honda Civic EX coupe color is Taffeta White. The color code is in the driver's door jamb and should read NH-578.

 

Sorry, not trying to hijack the thread but I was contemplating painting my side skirts as well.

They were black originally but have faded terribly to a grayish color now. Tire gloss/shine is a temp fix but I would like a more permanent one. Before I paint them black again though, i was curious if anyone knew of any polishes or cleaners that might restore them rather than paint. someone told me of something he thought was called "black chrome" but i've never heard of it nor do i see it online.

You mean the black ABS ones, stock from Honda? Not black sideskirts that are painted with black shiny paint, right?

Use this, it's dye. It works well, but be sure to put it on fast because can otherwise leave lines where you overlap the dye. You might want to wear gloves too.
