Default Check Engine Light

My "check engine" light is lit steady on 01 Accord V4. It is not caused by loose fuel fill cap.
What do we need to check the code? With my old chevy van we use to jumper 2 connections on the diagnostic plug and turn on the ignition and the light flashed certain codes.
Is it possible to do something like this on this car?
Looking on the internet the most likely cause is o2 senser either primary or secondary. But I would like to make sure what the problem is before swapping out parts as these sensors from the dealer are well over $200.

Any help would be appreciated.

Most parts stores will read the code for free in the hope of selling you something.
Get the code read and repost it for more help.
There is a way to jump pins in the diagnostic connector, but it is not as accurate as having the code read.

yeah, just go to AutoZone or Advance auto parts, ect. Most places will check the code for free.
