Default pulsing idle(already searched)

I tried to search this but nothing came up with the same symptoms.

On my SIR II B16A I swapped TB's which got rid of my MAP and TPS codes. But then the idle immediately started to pulse. So then I put a new TB gasket and still same thing. Usually it is the IACV that causes but I assumed that this is not the case because it didn't do it before the swap. I also tried a new o-ring on the IACV but nothing. I thought the TB gasket had been sucking some air that is why I replaced it. I did order it for a 99 si and there is a difference between the JDM and USDM gaskets, not in size but some different cutouts. The only other thing that I did was swapped other parts because they were newer like bottom piece on TB and the throttle spring.

this may be a long shot but do you have a skunk2 chipped ecu?I had one and I had the same problem with my gsr.I bought a virgin ecu from one of my friends and it stopped.

No stock ecu, a vacume leak may be possible but from where? It isn't hard to swap TB and get any lines crossed or not connected. Or maybe I am an idiot.

You dont need a new throttle body. For starters cover up that hole in your throttle body that is most likley causing a vaccum leak. Second check your fast idle valve. To do this:
1. Locate the 2 screws on the back of the throttle body(should be the only 2 there)
2. Completley remove one screw
3. Losen the other screw.
4. Swing the now open plate out of the way.
5. Tightent he disc located inside.
6. Put back together.

I did exactly what you said and still the same issue. The disc inside was very loose though. I just find it very odd that it worked fine before I replaced the TB. And yes I had to replace it because the original one was the 1st gen TB with the fire wall mounted MAP. If you have any other ideas than let me know. Thanks.

Oh yeah, not too sure what you mean about the hole in the TB. I never said there was a hole. I don't see a hole either. But I could be blind.

use wd-40 or propane to locate the leak (if it is a leak), spray around hoses, vacuums, and gaskets. if the engine revs up there's your leak

good advice never thought of that im sure carb and choke cleaner would do the same

So I found out that the leak is coming from the TB gasket. So I guess I should double it up or find one that fits better? After spraying everything now I have MAP, TPS, IACV codes. I didn't have codes before and I am trying to trade the car, so I really need this problem taken care of soon.

go to the dealer and buy a GOOD throttle body gasket.. or take the old one and trace it on some gasket material and cut it out.. ive had a hatch do this and it took me like a qweek to figure it all out... felt pretty dumb.. anyway


get a new gasket from honda (like $15) or just cut one out. itll solve the problem.. if youre feeling particularly froggy put a THIN coat of RTV on the gasket when you install it..if you do that make sure it dries completely before you run the car. be carefuly when you put it on.. its fairly easy to tear it when sliding it onto the studs

I will get one from the dealer but what car do I order from? Del Sol Vtec94-95 or 96-97, 99-00 SI, or what? It is hard to find parts for the JDM motors. I tried to but a IACV but nobody sells the JDM version so I had to match one up at a salvage yard to a 92 teg.
