Default Can anyone help with an 88' Civic Wagon?

So, I searched and searched and I can't seem to figure this out. Last night I was cruising along with the car running perfectly fine and it just died. I tried to start it up again, and it starts fine, but turns off again right away. It just dies as soon as it starts. This morning we went to try to figure out what was wrong with it, it started up and ran fine for about a mile of driving, then it just died again and is doing the same thing as before. I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but also my check lights on the guage cluster aren't comming on when the key is in the "on" position. However, the lights and stereo work fine. Any ideas?

Also, just for fun because this site has tons of info and I just started reading away, are mini-me swaps available for the wagon? It's the D15B2 engine, I believe. Will it work just the same as the other D15 series engines? Will I notice much more power if I did a MPFI and mini-me swap?

Check your grounds. I also had this happen one time when the rotor inside my distributor was loose. Just an idea...I'd guess it's something electrical though.

Also, yes MPFI and mini-me are good upgrades. You'll notice an incease in just the MPFI.

I had someone guess that it was most likely timing belt or something to do with the timing. Does that seem likely?

Not really if it's running fine until it dies. I wouldn't think it'd be timing. Even still, if it's out of time it will normally continue to run...just bad. It could be as simple as your battery cables being loose. Start at the simple stuff.

No codes or anything?

I'm not sure about the codes. The reason I'm trying to figure it out myself is because I'm trying to avoid taking it to the shop. I suppose they could tell me the codes, but then I'd have to pay them. Unfortunately I have a school payment comming up next week. ...depending on how much this costs to fix, I guess. I'll try the connections. My car does have trouble starting sometimes. When I turn the key, it just clicks once. I think its the starter clicking but not turning. Maybe a faulty connection not giving enough power. It randomly does that once in a while about 10 times and then it starts and is fine for like 2 weeks/month. Perhaps it's all due to an electrical short or something somewhere.

So is it normal for the "dummy lights" to not come on when you first turn the key when your car is broken down? I've had a few guesses of it being the fuel pump. Does that sound right at all. Atleast I finally got the car home...
