Default how to tell if headgasket it blow??

i did alot of searching and found alot of ways, but im double checking and geting up 2 date opinions. well i have a d16y7 with 45,xxx and it is stock with a t25 10psi HMT setup. now i have been starting my car latly bc of the cold, so my battery doesnt die, and just to keep the fluids moving. neways i never had a problem since like 2 months ago since i droped the motor in and put the turbo kit on etc.. all of a sudden the other day my temp guage shot up a lil over half way... now this was after it was ruing for about 40 mins idel.. now i forgot i disconected the fan and put it to a switch.. stupid me didnt put it on. after i put it on the temp went down, another thing i give it lil rev's and my car would surge, but i hav ethe z6 intake manifold which dont have the (FITv).. so i was told that thier might be air bubles in the rad or block, so i took the cap off started my car and when it warmed up alot of bubles came out then stoped.. weird and my car isnt over heating and idels completly fine and no pinging or knocking etc.... knock on wood, but when i give it lil revs i have white smoke out my exhaust not too badly but enought and ihave stem on cold days or nights.. also i thought bc i dont have my downpipe completly hooked up to my exhaust yet.. homemade style till i get it to a shop.. ( dont ask lol ) neways is this my head gasket or am i just stupid for unhoking my fan and not bleeding my rad etc... please someone help. me bc i want to go get this thing tuned asap... if u need anymore info just post and ill answer.. thanks..

Do a compression check and see if they are all within 10-20 psi of eachother. On a d16y7 expect compression to be about 135-150 psi unless you have done some sort of other mods to change compression. Does it seem like its running any different ever since your situation, better or worse?

Dip your stick in, make sure you run the car completely warm. take the dip stick out and let some oil drip on your exhaust manifold. if it bubbles up then you have water in your oil. Just for kicks take a lighter and light the stick where the oil is, if it flames up you have gas in your oil.

Your car will feel like its running on 3 cylinders and you will be pouring white smoke from your tail pipe

Drive the car for a bit and then check the dipstick. If it has bubbles or a green tint its a blown headgasket.

Drive and check oil cap, if it has white crap on it - blown headgasket.

There is also a little kit that is sold that you can use as well. They might sell it at autozone. Not sure.

Should be more like a brown milkshake usually under the oil cap or on dipstick if headgasket - if you dont drive very far enough to burn any condensation inside you may see just a white film indside the oil cap or inside on the underside of the valve cover - like my 00 civic coupe after 3 months of sitting and warming the car up a couple times a week and my compression when I checked it last week is about 205-210 across the board - the white film had me wondering but the oil is perfect in the pan and on the stick and coolant is dead on no bubbles and no mixing . I just play it be ear and if it needs to be changed Im sure ill find out once back on the road, because all of the tell tale signs I have always had for a headgasket have not come up yet that I am used to seeing.

But hey you never can be to sure 40-90$ for a new headgasket is alot better than the money to replace a tore up motor and cant be beat for being broke down on the side of the road saying damn I should have replaced the Headgasket

maybe cracked head ????another easy way is if its major pull your drain plug after letting your car sit for a while the coolant should be more sink and oil should float...pull plug and if it has sat for long enough and is only oil you should be ok. Thats how i found out my head was cracked

A headgasket can go at anytime really. A cracked head could cause coolant to leak into your cylinders, causing white smoke.

A few things to check:
-like stated above, check your oil for water
-take off radiator cap and check for milky coolant (cause by oil mixed in)
-compression test it

good luck
