Anyone try 0w-30 GC in their H22?
I think I am going to try it... anyone else use it? Thoughts?
Is 0w-30 to "thin" to run? I think the (german made) castrol 30-weight is supposed to be a little thicker than other 30 weight oils too
I'm in the midwest if that helps (i.e. it's cold outside!)

I'm not really concerned w/ performance, just quality of oil. Who makes the OEM stuff? What did the H22 come filled with from the factory?
I've had good luck w/ Petrosynth or Motul fluids in the past, they are just very hard to buy locally... I usually have to order it and have it shipped.

GC is some awesome stuff! The only thing you need to be worried about is that not all the 0W-30 Castrol you find in the store is GC. The label on the bottom back needs to read that it was Made in Germany.
US made Castrol Syntec isn't even really synthetic. In fact, Castrol GTX will out perform that stuff.

0W, 5W, 10W 15W are a measurement of the pour point when it is cold. 0-W is okay for cold climates. I use Mobil 1 OW-40 in my 96 Prelude. MB uses it straight from the factory on most cars now.

Thanks! Yeah, I made sure it was made in Germany. EVery says its awesome, so I thought I would give it a try. I just changed the oil now. Idles smooooth and quiet! I hear this is on the heaver side of the 30w scale so hooefully it will cut a little of the oil loss I've noticed.
The us made castrol syntec is poopy. I had it in there before and never really liked it for whatever reason.

Yeah, I read that too. So really as long as it's XX-W30 (in my case) then it should be all good at operating temp, and in this cold weather (<30F), should help on startup... right?

Yeah that's the weight, but what about the brand? I'm just curious

I'd personally stick to 5W-30, maybe use 0W-30 in colder climates, and 10W-30 in hotter climates. </TD></TR></TABLE>
It was 0w-30. It's <20 at night, so I dunno if that is cold enough... maybe?

Ive been using it since summer, no problems whatsoever. I did notice that it doesnt burn as much, I like it. I switched over when my friend told me he was using it in his b20vtec he loves it.
I dont know if it's all in my head, but this stuff seems good: the car idles smooth and quiet, rev's freely, and seems to start up a lot easier and smoother!
Also I noticed that it seems to ildes lower during the fast idle to warm up the car... what's up with that??
