NC area events.
Hello, I'd really like to find someone in the N.C. area that could help me get started with autocrossing.
I live about an hour from the Raleigh/Durham area.
I don't really care what class my car would fit in or anything, i'd just like a legal venue to enjoy my car.
if this isn't the proper place then just point me towards it. If you're willing to help just shoot me an email at onemkb@hotmail.com
thanks

Check out http://www.thscc.com. I've been to some of their events and they are well organized and a lot of fun. They have a novice driver group with extra instruction to make sure that you know what you are doing. The Novice School on March 10-11 would be an excellent way to get started, and the Laurinburg site is huge, they set up some really nice courses there.
X3 on THSCC (I am a bit biased)
We have a novice school in Laurinburg March 10th. That's kinda a long haul from Vaughan (yeah, I had to look it up).
I'd also check out
http://www.odr-scca.com
and
http://www.tidewatersportscarclub.com
I have ran with both in the past and are great guys to run with.

You can also check out the link below. They have some events that should not be too far from you. Also they are an eexcellent group that offers a lot of seat time.

They'll usually have some loaner helmets that you can squeeze into, although that's hit or miss. I was lining up for a run in a loaner helmet once when the egg sack that was in it broke. A horde of tiny little spiders began crawling out of it all over my head. It wasn't too bad, but the ones that crawled out on the visor, then dangled down on their webs in front of my eyes were distracting.
For a decent giant-head autocross helmet for not a lot of $, I like my Pyrotect open-face in XXL:

Just make sure that whatever you buy meets the ratings of the club that is putting on the events that you will be attending.
