Default Alarm Problem

My alarm lock still locks, but it doesn't make that little sound before it does. I also tested to see if it'll go off if someone tamper with the car and it wont go off. Can it just dies on it own or does someone have to mess with it to die like that?

Your alarm is in "valet" mode.

Open the door, on the keypad press lock, unlock and lock. Or, depending on the alarm model, press lock, aux, lock.

Close the door, turn on the ignition, turn it back off.

This should put it back in "alarm" mode.

This works with Viper and Python alarms.

what if everything on the alarm works and the only problem is the siren doesn't beep when you arm and disarm it?? its not a DEI alarm but a basic alarm?

Could be a bad siren, bad siren output or a poor connection.

When the alarm triggers, do the parking lights still flash? If so, then there is a siren issue.

If the alarm won't trigger at all, it is either in "valet" mode, a blown fuse, poor conncection, or a bad transmitter.

To the OP, what model alarm is it you have?

The horn may be good, but the alarm's connection to it may be poor. The alarm's output may be bad as well.

If the alarm has been on there awhile, and has all of a sudden developed issues, it could be a connection. See if you can find the brain and just make sure all the connections are nice and tight. Especially the ground.

Alarms VERY rarely go bad. Most of the time it is a bad fuse on the alarm (not the car's fuse panel) or a ground has loosened up over time.

Also, check and make sure the battery in your keypad is in good working order.

I love these trolls...

Anyways, back on topic.

It's a viper alarm. An older model. The light still flash when I arm or disarm the car. I am going to try to wake it from VALET mode. Thanks for all your inputs guys.

I don't think you should pay him much attention, because that is exactly what he's trying to get. He's a troll, someone who just makes name on board to talk ****. Evidently, its friday night and he's trolling on a board. Easy to understand what kind of life he got.
