Default 1989 CRX HFs are the worst for seat swapping?

I've done a lot of searching on the CRX seats conundrum and am only asking for a little reassurance-- so don't post any of that "do some searching" because if you read what I've concluded, you'll understand that I have searched!

Let me know if any of this is all correct for CRX's

90-91 CRX Seats all interchange with no mods.
88 (all models) and 89 (HF only) can be swapped with no mods.
89 (non-HFs) interchange with no mods.

*Also, some people have said that the seatbelt locations also have to be the same for the seats to swap without mods.

*I've also read that some 89 CRX's that were manufactured late in the year may have the 90 CRX seats (which would mean they could be swapped with any 90-91 CRX).

I guess also that some 90 CRX's might have the same (but oposite) problem.

So does this mean my CRX HF 1989 is possibly the absolute worst year/model of CRX to swap seats into?

TIA

Zack,

this only works for US spec CRX's

88 crx all interchange with each other
89 HF can swap with 88
89-91 swap with each other

however, the rest of the world including canada all seats can swap from 88-91, and they are the same as the US spec 88 and 89 HF only.

No. There are only 2 types of '88-91 CRX seat mounts (rails and floor pan): those for cars with door-mounted seat belts, and those for cars with pillar-mounted seat belts. They are not interchangeable unless you swap seat pans.

CRXes with pillar-mounted belts include all '88 trims and the '89 HF.

CRXes with door-mounted belts include '89 DX, '89 Si, and all '90-91 trims.

Yes.

The only CRXes to have door-mounted seat belts were the '89 USDM Si and DX, and all '90-91 USDM models. Models not intended for the USDM in those years had pillar-mounted belts.

Stop bumping.
