Default maaco vs. earl scheib? or anything better?

I was wondering who would be better, i know that each shop differs by location, but i was wondering who uses quality paint or has better offers. i have about 400-600 dollar spending limit.

i know that earl has an offer for their pro 2 packages for 359 this month.
i heard maaco was good, but not best.
any thing else?

my friend and i took a lot of time to do the body work our selves, so i don't want that hard work to go to waste.

it's gonna have orange peel from the rattle can primer you covered the car in. you didn't even seal it before you put the primer on did you? go talk to both places and see what they have to offer and look at some of the cars they are working on to get a good idea of what you'll be paying for. good luck

actually we sanded it down to the metal/primer whatever, and then primered, sanded, and primed again good?
i didnt take very many pictures while we were sanding, so it jumps from stock paint to primer, (looks like i just painted over it huh?)

but yeah we sanded it down to bare metal/primer

thank you for feed back

i wouldnt waste your money at either location. Keep saving for an actual body shop, or just rattle can it.

if it were me i would just do the body work my self ie sanding and bondo if needed all of that crap then just take it down to maaco and have it painted

personally i think like this the money you have on your million dollar paint job can be put into the performance of the car which is more important to me then looks

but if looks is your thing then i would get busting out the credit card or something and get that million dollar paint

for the record though i have seen maaco jobs and just as long as you do the body work i see nothing wrong with it really!

ouch, you spent all that time on a poorly done prep work. =X

surface primer is only to fill in damage pits on the body of the car. you shouldn't even have to do that to cover up original paint. all you had to do is scuf your old paint. scratches, dings, rock chips, body filler, etc. is where surface primer is sprayed on.

i personally never had any experiences with Maaco, but after looking at the thread on here, some paint jobs come out pretty clean (except the orange peel, but you plan on color/wet sanding anyways, so i think you'll be fine).

i, on the other hand have been to earl schiebt(sp?), and i would definitely recommend you pay for the extra clear coat, or else itll look like [poop] .

remember the saying, "You get what you pay for."

good advice every one.

thanks for the criticism, i wasn't really sure what we were doing. i guess i might have wasted some time primering the whole thing huh?

yeah maaco sounds good, and so does hasback's friend.

i plan to spend 600. black. deep black or factory black (suggestions on black? cuz some are better than others)

extra clear coat?, whats the "integrated" clear coat? should i get a clear coat over that?

ill definitely post pics to show yall how it turns out.
and just maybe lol maybe, we might even buy a compressor and spray gun and do it ourselves,
we really try to take as much pride in our work as our time and budget will allow. right now i have way more time that budget.

could some one explain presidential supreme and signature? i would especially like to know the difference from presidential and supreme (price?), i don't plan on getting signature.
you definitely get what you pay for

hopefully by the months end guys.....

don't go to either places if ur gunna plaint ur whip black...my cuzin brought her dc in to get it plainted the gloss black that they have and they said they were going to fix all the imperfections on the car and when the car was done...orange peel is a big issue...the paint was thin as ****...but if i HAD to get my car painted at either places...i'd go with maaco...otherwise *** that...rather take it to a collision shop...they do a hella better job...save ur money...get it painted somewhere else if u can...go to hasbak or soemthing...

thanks for the feed back.

yeah with a big wad of cash, making these decisions becomes critical.

ha, im getting nervous. jk

but yeah maaco is a 50/50 coin toss hit or miss

and sounds like earl has NO vouches.

ill contact hasback when i have more money.
im very interested in all my options, and would like to try to benefit and learn as much as i can from this experience.
