Default Headers, now smoke.

A buddy of mine installed some headers on his '00 lude last night, and now the car smokes white kind of bad, and after driving for about 15 minutes the header turned a crazy gold color. Also the CEL is on and it the code is for 02 heater circuit. Is any of this normal? will the spark plug non-fouler work for the o2 code?
