How the HELL would you fit the trans?

I don't think it would ever work as a FWD...it's possible as rear wheel though, but somebody's already doing it.

But the way you asked it made it sound dumb.

dude must not realise how long the engine and tranny assembled is. it would be damn near wider than the front of a civic turned sideways.

For every 18yr old ****** that laughed at him go expletive yourself Its already been done in an MKII VW golf, im sure if there was a will theres a way to drop this motor into a civic or an accord. Dont think you know every thing because you ****** have been driving for a couple years

Hey bro hate to break it to ya but im pretty sure a GOLF is not made by HONDA hence the fact that he plans on puttin it into a HONDA. Incase u didnt know...HONDA and VW GOLF arent the same car so just because its been done in a GOLF doesnt mean nething

Wow way to quote the pictures under the pictures newb.

Do you really think the engine bays are that much different between a golf and a civic with the motors out? no. Im sure if some one really wanted to they could stuff this into a civic it just depends on how bad you want to do it. The stuff them in Fieros too.

How old are you and how much fab work have you done? lol

I think one of the big reasons im in to honda's and I probably speek for a lot of other people on here is because we made a "four cylinder" fast. We took a four cylinder, half the size of a V8 and made it faster than a V8. Theres no challenge in making a V8 fast.

There have been a few Civics/Integra's with V8's in them. One was up on eGay a while back out of Illinois. It wasn't that fast but it was cool.

The motor even had a blower on it and a cut down Ford 9'' under the rear. I know it wasn't FWD but hey.

I was thinking the Northstar would be an easier fit also considering it was designed with a FWD tranny and what not.

OP: Goodluck with this if you attempt it.

just cause something can be done, doesn't mean it's a good idea. let see, we'll take a 600 lb motor and tranny and stuff it in a space that a 250 lb motor and tranny goes; genious. Good luck trying to maneuver quickly around an accident or something.

If you really want to go the extra mile with a V8 in a civic, make it RWD. Get a hatchy, close off the interior behind the front seats, make that the engine bay. Do some cutting and welding, then you can fit an LS1 in there - TRANSversly.

If you poke around, Fiero guys take their stock trannys, slap on an adapter plate, then bolt the [whatever GM V8] motor to it, and do a bit of extra wiring. One example that comes to mind is an all-motor LS1 Fiero, making ~520whp. Those cars have even less room in the back than a hatchback does.

My ideal setup would be an LS6 from a vette and the whole rear suspension/transmission assembly. With a shortened driveshaft/axles/suspension arms, you'd get one of the best v8's out there today, and a super-light chassis with an almost 50/50 weight split.

If a V8 can be swapped into a CRX then im pretty sure that it can fit into a Civic.

Just takes a lot of brain and some cheese.
