Default OMG not MORE trouble!!!! :'(

Ok...Pulling the motor from my rex and i addressed the hub nut issue but now i'm having more difficulties...The shift linkage has to be removed from the tranny, BUT: the pin is stuck, not allowing me to remove the linkage from the transmission. It does'nt seem to want to come out from the top nor the bottom. I have used hammers, screwdrivers AND hammers, and everything in between. Anyone have any suggestions? This motor swap is starting to suck...

Time to be smarter than the transmission Disconnect the shifter from the car, drop and take with the transmission.

Exactly what I said...it is also 1X easier to pop the pin out with the trans out of the car....

and yea 8mm punch and a hammer shoud get it out....I remeber on here someone made a tool with a "C" clamp with a punch welded to the to of it and a "cup" on the bottom...pretty much pressed the pin out into the "cup" awesome idea...i will eventually make one

Like Dr. Latino said, disconnect the linkage from the car. Then pull the motor and tranny together.

I did disconnect the linkage from the car, and I WOULD have pulled it all out BUT...when you try to lift the motor and tranny out of the car, the linkage catches the frame of the car (just under the firewall) and doesnt let you lift the motor up any farther with the entire linkage attached. If I were able to jack up the car further this would be possible, but I can't.

Damn, get some wooden blocks and stick on top of the jack. That will get you more elevation. Also use jack stands once you've get the car to the right height.

I use an a/c bolt, the same size as the bolt that screws the other half of the shift linkage in. Line that sucker up, soak the pin in some pb blaster, and hammer away with a decent size sledgehammer. I guess I've done so many swaps that my bitch pin slides in and out like an asian in Jenna Jameson

if you have access to an air compressor, an air hammer will do it in literally a few seconds, just have to find the right bit

I got in last night around 2am and decided to get to work lol...I found my air hammer, put a punch-type bit in it, and hammered that son a beast till it got about 3/4 of the way out(my bit was'nt long enough). After that, i grabbed it with some vice-grips and shook and jerked the pin until it came out...I WAS A HAPPY CAMPER! Thanks for the ideas guys! Honda-Tech rocks

****, first time I did a swap I had everything out except the mounts and linkage and I ran into the bitch pin. I hammered away with no luck, so I got creative. A 1/2" to 3/8" wratchet adapter fits right into the bitch pin. So I set this adapter on my 3 ton floor jack and positioned the adapter right under the bitch pin and proceded to jack up the whole front end of the car on the bitch pin alone. Still no budge, so I sprayed some PB blaster on there and let it set. I then climbed into the engine bay, and stood on the crossmember and bounced up and down. Needless to say I nearly fell out backwards when the pin popped out. It worked, was funny as ****, and I didnt get hurt so win/win.

p.s. Dont do what I did, though if you do, video tape it, I wish I had.

I always use a 1/4 ratchet extension and a hammer, works every time. I don't like pounding away on the shaft like that. Your pretty crazy using a air hammer.
