Default when buying a 1991 Civic Hatch si w/ b16a what should I look for?

hey guys and girls, just wanted to know what should I look for when considering buying a hatch with an b16a? Things like motor mounts, ecu, wiring, harness, axles, and other necessary parts or procedures when some one generally swaps in a b16. thanks guys. what would you look for when purchasing a swaped car?

See if the mounts are aftermarket, or if they were re-welded. Check for oil leaks, rust, etc. Pretty much anything you would check for any a regular car.

you want to make sure that the swap was done with quality in mind. good wiring, good mounts (hasport, az race, etc), compression check, grinds in gear or when shifting, odd noises, correct shift linkage (as opposed to cut up linkage), engine number check (to check to make sure its not stolen). check to see what obd the car is and if everything matches correctly. the other stuff that you would check when looking for a regular used car.

Here whats I would look for
Good Stuff
1. Hasport Mounts and Linkage
2.Ecu connections using ecu pins and all connections soldered
3.No nasty cheap paint jobs because they suck to get off
4. No ugly body kit or shaved moldings because most people seem to fill in holes and moldings with just bondo

Their are too many things to check. I spot stuff on my friends cars all the time. It usually pisses them out and they tell me to shut up. I'm **** with broken **** and rigged stuff. That probably the reason why I would never buy a modified car from anyone. I don't trust anyone.
What happens usually when you go to purchase a modified car is this: You find X,Y, and Z wrong with the car. Then the owner tells you that "owe thats nothing, no big deal thats an issue fix.
Then you decide to take it for a test drive and the check engine light is on. The owner says"oh thats just a mapsensor code. Then after you get it home to find out the car is throwing 8 codes. So you decide to check the codes after you purchase the car, so you pull the carpet back and its a wiring rat mess. You one friend laughs at you and says it looks like a Volkswagen underneath their.
Seriously though bring a few of your friends with you to check it over with you. A couple sets of eye's is better then one.

you should be looking for a bad *** alarm and checking out your anti theft options because some ****** might try and steal it.

Ah i see you in Cali, with the theft rate of hondas out there you should really put this in the top 5 of **** you want to do to your car

with that being said. enjoy your new whip cause b16efs are a blast to drive

Honestly I would never every buy someone elses swapped car unless the car is in immaculate condition.

In my case I bought a 91 Si hatch....1 owner...DOHC ZC and the car was in near showroom shape. The owner was up front and said he did race a few times and that engine was still very strong. He ran a compression test, showed me smog results, no ecu codes. It had a bad cv joint and he fixed it before I bought the car.

I dunno about you guys but I never rev the **** out of a D-series unless it has vtec. When I see a B16 swapped EF/ED for sale the first thing I think of is someone ******* the **** out of that motor(who wouldn't want to ?) Mild d-series swaps is where I draw the line. I bought a b16 crx once from someone and the care never felt like it was mine. It felt tainted. yeah, I know...I am so EMO

I believe so.

I bought a b16 swapped 91 si hb about a year ago.

Heres what I did: Go start the car yourself, sit in it for a few seconds and see if it throws any codes. Pop the hood, listen to it idle (check for any odd sounds). Check mounts (like mentioned before) check wiring (make sure it is not "ghetto" and what not)
Chat with the owner about the car, Move the car and check to see if its leaking anything

Drive it, make sure vtec engages. Check for codes again (dont be a dick head and jus hop in and hammer it)

Thats about all i can think of right now.

Keep us updated if you buy it. I'll be demanding pics

oh and see if he has recipets for whatever mods done to the motor/car

also chekc the oil dipstick to make sure the stick isnt burned that means its probably been over heated atleast once and probably warped the deck

check for smoke out the exhaust,
look underneath the car check for rust suspension if its lowered make sure the springs arent cut!

and also look at the exhasut see how bad it is unless your going to slap an exhaust on there

look for rust! im sure almost everythign else has been covered

good luck on the buy budd and let us knwo if you get it with pictures an things of the sort!
