Pilot Bearing for CM flywheel
I just put in CM flywheel and noticed it does not come with pilot bearing. Honda doesn't sell the bearing for H22. Do I need the bearing for sure, or will I survive with out? Has anyone else delt with this problem?
pilot bearing or TO bearing? just checkin. pkspx on Hondasociety just did flywheel lightening and h23 tranny with race clutch with technical help from myself on fitment. if you cant find new bearing use the old one, but do a search it shouldnt be hard to find. also, h22/h23/f22/f23 all can interchange trannys and flywheels so bearing are similar as well.
You can use use the old throwout bearing, but considering how most of us drive our cars, it's best that you replace it so that you won't have to remove your tranny in the near future (just for a little bearing).

i think he's talking about the Pilot bearing not the Throw-out bearing. The pilot bearing is already installed in the CM flywheel. it's in the center of it. you don't need to buy one.

What kind of Honda-Tech Member do you take me for. Of Course I'm throwing a new clutch in (Clutch-Net). Tranny is getting rebuilt with Quaife inside as I'm typing this. Thanks for the input on how to handle this matter. Do you all know if The figure 8 thing is nesseccary for breaking-in Quaife LSD's?
As for the Quaife, excellent choice (best mod I ever did). The Quaife does not require a break-in period. The figure 8 routine you're thinking of is for clutch-type LSDs, like the type Kaaz produces. When you rebuild your tranny, don't forget to replace the two differential bearings. Might I also recommend that you replace your 1st gear synchro (since they tend to wear out on our trannies), especially since you have the tranny apart anyways.
no, it's a design unique to Quaife called a active torque-biased differential, but similar to a helical LSD in design.

I can't see why the little "bearing" (just looks like a metal ring/clip to me) in the center of the flywheel is required... I mean the whole flywheel itself is centered by those 8 12-point flywheel bolts.
Oh, well, I guess it will keep the clutch alignment tool centered better within the flywheel.

i was studying the h nternals and noticed that the bearing on the mainshaft is not submerged/or any gear oil would normally get to this
any one have an idea about hooking up a good lubrication system to keep everything nicely lubed for higher rpm reliability?

I don't believe anybody caught this earlier. The d/b series engines use a pilot bearing on the flywheel. The h/f series do not use one.

Call whoever you bought it from and tell them to overnite that ****. I had to wait an extra couple days for mine but it should be included with the flywheel.

You might want to check the helms manual. It doesn't show one either. good luck.
Yeah, it doesn't say much about it-helms can be kinda vauge sometimes. I'll just have wait and see what CM sends me. IT definatly seems like there should be something in the CM to match the diameter of heavy stock FW.
