timing help

Default timing help

i just did the timing belt on my 90 CRX si and after all said and done when i am setting up the timing with the light i have to have the dizzy all the way retarted to have the make almost line up where they are supose to (seems like it needs to be even more retarded) ... i have checked over and over the makes all line up on the tdc marks.. there are the like this if it works out

when its all the way retarded??? when i advance it is just farther away???

seems to run fine but milage is shitty??

anyone had this problem or know of anything that could be off..

You did jump the connector by the passenger foot well to tell the computer you are setting base timing right?

sounds like you don't have the camshaft timing correct

i did jump that little blue connector but i did with and without and it dosnt do anything??.. i did set it with it jumpped but i dunno, is there anyway to tell if that connector works

and the cam TDC mark is bang on when #1 is at tdc aswell.. it is strange

now i have never has the actual cam gear off is there anyways it could not on the cam correct??

Is the engine up to operating temp when you do this? Double check that your cam timing is correct. You do have the inductive clamp on cylinder #1 correct?

how do i check if the cam timing is on

take the valve cover off, rotate the crank till the tdc mark lines up with the ^ mark. then see if the line on the cam lines up with the ^ mark it is supposed to. your cam is probably one tooth off

so are there other marks under the valve cover or are you just talking about the mark on the cam gear and the cover you line up??

The marks are on the gears. You have an arrow on each gear that say "UP" and when they both are up each cam gear has a little - and they should meet eachother so it looks like this - - when both arrows are pointing up
