Painting A Carbon Fiber Hood
Hey guys, I have a ViS invader CF Hood and its been on my car for about 2 yrs. The clear has begun to yellow, and a rock hit it to create a crack on it. Also, ut has seen 2 winters, so teh condition could be better. Since my car is silver anyways, I figured I should just get it painted professionally instead of forking up another $500+ for a new hood.
Has anyone painted their hoods and how did it hold up? (since the hood tends to flex at high speeds)

lol.... im 98% sure I'm not selling it. I made plans to get it painted next month. Just wanted to get feedback on if someone else has already done it
lol.. worth a try.. nah its way easy to paint the hood or even make it look like new again.. all you have to really do is wetsand the clear coat and buff it to make it look new again. but if your going to paint it. just wet sand the clear coat and take it in to be painted. :D thats all there really is to it.
thanks man. i was just worried about the flex in the hood when im one the beltway. wanted to make sure that the paint wasnt going to crack. ive been rockin the CF hood for a minute now, so i figured a change is good anyway. it still will look after market because of the style of the hood, plus part of the CF will still show
i would love to re clear coat it, but a rock hit it near the "scoop" and put a nice 2 inch internal crack on it. I cant feel it on the surface tho. Also, I noticed the origin of the crack just made another crack line going in another direction. Paint is the best option right now and I think I want a newer look

forgot to clarify.. if your worried about the paint cracking cause of flex. ask the body shop to add a flex agent into the paint. they usually do when they are painting bumpers or plastic parts that get alot of movement in them. so FYI say could you add flex agent to the paint if you weren't planning on it.. :D
