Default Cheapo coilovers, a disaster waiting to happen? Check these out.

Well I was sick and tired of looking at my crx at 4x4 height, so I wanted to get it real low but I didn't have enough money to get a nice nice setup. soooooo I bought a set of cheap *** coilovers from weaksauce. (NRG coilovers)

Well I got them In today and let me say I can reeaaalllyy feel the cheapness. The sleeves feel like plastic and so does everything else. At least it will get my car real low

I snapped some pixors Feels like a disaster waiting to happen, like a split sleeve or something.

Look at how thin those threads are

Does anyone have pics of quality slip on coilovers for comparison? I was gonna get some GC's but I just didn't have the money

I'd wait until you have the illuminas to install the coilovers. No point in doing everything twice, you know what i mean?

How low do you plan on going?

you may want to invest in a camber kit.

actaully, you may want to invest in an alignment when youre done changing your ride heights.

hahahahaha, no. Any "good brand coil set" won't say under applications "88-00 Civic/CRX." They'll actually have spring rates made for the car.

Getting rid of my ebay coilovers was the best move i've ever made. My friend that has them didn't realize how bad they were until he rode in my car (just a basic eibach pro-kit/illumina setup).

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR GOD DAMMIT!!!

The most important thing you can do to your car is the suspension.
Nothing makes more of a difference with the way the car drives, NOTHING!
So why people cheap out on the most important part of their car is beyond my
comprehension.

DO IT ONCE AND DO IT RIGHT IS THE BEST POLICY!!

Don't be an idiot, just cause you want the "slammed" look...

Let me tell you , i have the ebay specials that i got for $25 or something and they look just like yours. I used the stock shocks to lower it and ohh man, i never knew a car could bounce this much, my kidneys hurt for real. Idk how it will be with those shocks but get something nice if you can. Im looking for stock setup from a 92-95 civic now ... naahh for those.

The car is low as a **** tho

only if u have money...both of my bros has been rolling on racer design coilover for almost 3 years slumpped, it was only 80 bucks and its rides smooth with no bounce, stiff. me i got some weird brand coilover with illuminas from the junkyard for 150 non-blown. rides smooth.

wtf guys, I wasnt asking if the ride would be bouncy or anything like that, I was just pointing out the cheap quality and I expect something to go wrong. Not everybody has the cash to run expensive suspension. Plus I barley drive this car, maybe to school and back: and tearing up the dragstrip. calm down peeps

i had some ebay coils on stock shocks...i only payed 40 bucks for them though, so u got ripped off hard.....they suck too, real bouncy on stock shocks....i now have agx's with ksport lowering springs n trust me, its worth it to spend the extra money n do it right....those ebay coils should be pretty good sitting on some agx's or illuminas or koni yellows though....my friend has some with illuminas n they ride pretty stiff.....so jus wait to get da shocks, now that u payed 90 bux for dat garbage...

in my post in my sig. the wagon, racer design maybe cheap but its rides smooth like hell, now u asking about expecting something to happen right, trust me nothing is gonna happen. my bros car is low but not to low, and its a smooth ride, when he had it half way to his tire then yea it was bouncy. 80$ coilover. u just gonna know now to set the coilovers on..ill sport those nrgs u got but, i already got some (not expensive kyb konis etc) so dont expect something to happen cause it just might be the worst.

Guess what? Everyone that replied that they were junk in this thread has had them too. You might not realize how bad they are due to inexperience with other setups, hell i didn't mind the ride on mine either until my dad pointed out to me how bad it was. Once i replaced it though, i realized what he was saying and i'd do it 10 times out of 10 after feeling the results.

My shocks/springs cost me $575 shipped so it's not that expensive either.

not everyone has lot of money or money to spear for some good parts. i dont wanna turn this into an argue thread i was just putting in my 2 cent. next21 didnt have as much at the time to get the real deal shocks and so on. so he went with the next best thing, just coilovers, no upgraded shocks, he just wants the car to be low. and trust me 575 is a lot of money already, and yes for some people 575 is hard to get.

look here, i know how it feels to buy cheap coilovers, its lasted me a long time and trust me youll get use to the bouncing after awhile unless u get it to not bounce. its not like your gonna go to circuit or anything i assume. thats you have to worry about.. my friend just got his cheap coilover feels like plastic foreal alright..but it was bouncy when i slapped it on..after like a week i switched his springs around, **** his car is stiff like hell..you, slap it on..drop it to your desire.. see how it is..i can understand to not have money for the real thing..

and a couple of post up i did post a link to a pix of the coilover and its pieces(sleeve spring etc)

Then you're in the wrong hobby. You're modifying a MAJOR part of your car, not slapping on a cold air intake. This isn't the place to cheap out.

Oh, and it's much cheaper to do it right the first time than the second. Don't ask me how i know.
