HOW TO IDENTIFY TYPE R HEAD AND TRANNY?
I ran across a b18c5 code block and it has the p73 intake manifold but the vins are all gone same with the tranny and the s80 sticker is missing how do i know whether its a real type r head and not a b16 same with the tranny how do i know its type r does anyone know how to identify these items?
Check the head, if it's a PR3 casting... It will say PR3, followed with a 1, or 2,or 3, or 4. And it SHOULD have green paint next to the distributor (I'll post a picture for reference). Only problem, it could be a B16 head as well, with green paint in the correct spot. Pull the valvecover off, and check the cams/valvetrain, that's the best way to make sure.
As for the transmission, I'm not sure, other than to pull the axles out... If you can see straight through, and there's no bar through the opening, it has LSD.
But I must ask the question... Are you sure these items aren't stolen?

That's from the rear view, that's the distributor to the right there, and the valvecover to the left.

The paint should be a bit thicker/wider, but some came off when I was cleaning the engine.
It's located...

Right about where my thumb is covering up.
