Default Positive impression of new formula Honda MTF

I'm sure others have posted this plenty, but I just changed to the new Honda MTF and my initial impression is very good. I had a lot of 3rd gear grind in mid to high RPMs and a little 5th gear grind in high RPMs. So far I have not had any grinds since changing the fluid today. I will update if anything changes.

Cool. I plan of switching this spring. Regular honda mtf isn't very good at extreme cold temps.

I get 3rd gear grinds after my car warms up. I should try it sometime.

Yeah, that's another thing I can't test yet since it's not cold enough this week. My 2nd was grinding a little last week when it was near 0 degrees out.

Available at both. I remember someone saying that it's 5-6 a quart. There was a long thread about this not too too long ago. Search.

the new stuff works great , i had that 3rd gear grind and it was gone after about 5 miles of driving. it is like 750 a quart at the dealer but well worth it

When I went to my Honda dealership they were actually selling the old stuff and the new stuff. The lady at the counter actually went to grab the old stuff and I had to specifically ask for the new. So watch out and don't accidentally buy the old stuff! And if you are having them change the fluid for you, I think they told me it would be around $55, but make sure to specifically ask for the new formula fluid. They charged me $6.69 for each bottle, but it was well worth it so far.

I don't know about you but I'm gonna stick with something made by honda for honda's. Not some GM made crap.

Anyways the new stuff works wonders in the cold weather. The dealership I go to said they were required to send the old MTF back to the honda warehouse. So I dunno if other dealers were following that trend. just some insite.

For whatever reason, that GM crap works for a lot of people!

it may work. but wouldn't you much rather use something designed for your vehicle then to use another companies brand..

GM syncro is designed for trannys that have a higher amount of trq. and friction. using a heavy oil like that in a honda tranny is most likely going to be prone to failure or dmg.

Anyone know what the part number is/was of the old Honda MTF so I can make sure I get the new stuff?

I went to the Honda dealer and gave them the part number listed above and they gave me a bottle with the same part number and the letter "c" at the end of it. They said they didn't know anything about the new version. (I'm also in Canada if that matters)

no, the one I have is completely black with a black top on it. In Canada our oil comes in 1 litre bottles, not quarts and I think they possibly use different colors which is why I was wondering about the old fluids part number.

haha, ya I know...the metric system..varying model designations between US and Canada even though they are the same cars...frustrating when it should be so easy.

As I was saying, if someone could find me the OLD part number for the original MTF in the US, I could compare it to the new one and see if there's a difference. I've been searching on here but can't find anything. Someone must have an old bottle kicking around in their garage somewhere. You do have 10 x the population we do...lol

Yea, GM "crap" is the ****. However now that honda came out with the MTF 2 that is sapposibly the same stuff im gonna use it in my fresh tranny. All the honda dealers tell me that they dont know anything about it, dont know if its the same or similar to GM and say its for 07 vehicles and up
