Default can't put the car in gear

alright got a 93 Lude AUTO

heres the problem, all of the sudden I stop somewhere put it in park...
and the car is still on and I can't take it out of park
only way I can is to put the key in that lil fail safe thing and than put it neutral than start it and go...... I can't push the button in on the shifter while it's in park.... just like they way it does if ur ignition is off and you try to take it out of gear...

Im not sure what the problem might be but you may need to check the switch on the back of the brake pedal. Also what do the lights on the dash say? is the D4 or park light blinking if so that may indicate a problem.
